Power Analysers

Power Analysers are precision instruments that measure the power consumption or Watts of a device, circuit, or subsystem. Modern analysers can determine harmonic distortion, power factor,  peak, mean, and many more parameters of a signal.

They sample the voltage and current waveforms entering or exiting a device under test. This sampling process typically occurs at high frequencies. The data is processed by a dedicated high-speed digital signal processor and the various derived parameters are calculated.

An Important differentiating factor between oscilloscopes/data acquisition cards and true power analysers is that high-end analysers can process measurements in real-time.
